Events
Most packs have their own traditions and rituals, but there are some large ones that occur where all wolves and packs can come to gather in a certain place in Adymeria for these.
The Naming
This event is held each year by the Council. The wolves gather at the Ghostflowers to wait with anticipation to the naming of the new Guardians, generally two selected per year. The Council members will lock themselves within their great hall to debate and may not leave until one to two names are agreed upon to make as Guardians. After the decision is made, many wolves will bring offers and tokens to give to the newly chosen. Doing this is a way to earn the favor of the Guardian, Council members and the blessings of the gods.
The Bloodletting
The bloodletting is a more private event held within the walls of the Council. A new member will go and stand at the roots of the Ghostflowers. A council member will tear open the vital veins and arteries in the neck to bleed out the impurities of this wolf and offer them to the gods to be cleansed. The blood will then be pushed back in and the wolf healed, though severely weakened for some time. He will then be taken to rest and fast for a week. After this he is officially a member of the council.
Starry Night Festival
The meeting for lovers, the Starry Night Festival is an event held each Hunter Moon season. A time when the youths of packs are encouraged to being their courtships, when royal bloodlines will begin to arrange marriages to tie in their powerful blood and continue its strength. This event lasts for a week, with the packs gathering in a large meeting place and staying close by. Despite its purpose to bond young couples and new bloodlines, it is also a rather large social event where many smaller games are held.
Mark of Fire
This event is one of the more dangerous ones. Each Ice Moon, a great beast is awoken and taken to the pit. Within this pit, he is tethered to the ground, for a time blindfolded and muzzles by the strongest mages. When the time comes, many brave wolves will take their place within the pit with him, some adorned in some form of armor. The dragon will then be released of his muzzle and blindfold and strike out with fire at the wolves around him. The last wolf standing is the winner, if he too survives. Many deaths have taken place in the Mark of Fire event. The event is a test to bravery, strength, speed, and endurance. Many participate in an attempt to prove the strength of their bloodlines.
Warrior Blood
An event that is more of a trial for the youths of Adymeria. This is not for the faint of heart nor the weak of will. Typically this event is held for those aspiring to be warriors or rogue knights or other similar things. It could also simply be a fun even for the danger-seekers and those who live for things like this. The trial itself is generally held each Dry Moon simply for the abundance of life of the creatures of the lands. The younger wolves are sent off to bleed a pegasus. While they do not have to kill the beast they have to prove that they did the deed by dipping a feather from their wings in the blood of the same pegasus and return back with it by sundown.
Masquerade Festival
This is a celebration of the dead and the living, a time where wolves adorn themselves in special ornaments blessed by their pack alphas, shamans, and powerful loners who linger on the edges of pack life. Each year a pack is set to host this event, all meeting within the ritual grounds. Many wolves hide their faces beneath the skulls of other creatures and wear other camouflage to make them seem more like their chosen disguise. This festival lasts for a period of three days. The first night is spent getting reacquainted, wolves meeting and exchanging gossip and news of their packs, as well as a large feast that the Host pack is to provide. The rarer the beast, the more status the Host gains. The next night is spent in a lavish party, where there is song by those blessed with siren song, drinking from those that know how to brew the intoxicating effects of the mushrooms of the mushroom forest, dancing with lavish displays of magic, and several games. One being the hunt of beasts. It is played on teams, four wolves to each, and each much run into the forest and attempt to drag back as many creatures as they can. Points are awarded by a judging group and the winners will be blessed with essence. The third day is often spent trying to bring alliances between packs and peace between members. This night is spent with stories and blessings from various members of the packs, even the lowliest omega is able to step up and speak, and offer encouragement to new mothers, new leaders, and give their well wishes.
