Raven is a massive beast, solid and well built. As a Halfling, he takes on the appearance of his raven companion as well as that of a gryphon. His head is lean and angular, his muzzle dipping down into a predatory black beak, his forehead sloping up into larger than normal and pointed ears, feathered on their backs. His pale white eyes glow softly from his sleek face, the absences of pupils makes him appear hellish and odd. His broad shoulders ease down and abruptly change into the great taloned limbs of a predatory bird, black talons clanking together like ringing metal. Rising back up, two great and broad wings spread from his back, solid and inky black. Thick haunches sit lower down the slow of his back, easing naturally down into solid limbs of a wolf, though thick fur and feather clings to them. His tail is quite long and feline line, though covered in fur. Over all, Raven is quite the beast to behold, appearing more gryphon than wolf in many ways. His aura as the wielder of the rune of Bane brings great discomfort to others. He brings out the worst in others, sometimes intentionally and other times not at all. He often wanders about his blessing, and frequently asks the gods to answer if it is more a curse to him. But he has yet to receive such an answer.
personality
Raven has lived a near endless amount of years, and it has both made his heart bitter and wise. He has seen the cruelest of his kind and the rare pureness of his kind. He has seen the gods in their spirit form when they once lived among them and was beside the Great Spirit in his suffering when he lay on earth and he was there when the Ghostflowers began to grow. Many years and many lives have made him colder, lonelier, and more bitter. Raven has always been alone, used as a threat by mothers in stories to threaten their pups and feared by adults who see him coming. The coldness of their rejection long ago caused him to become a recluse in many ways, sticking to the few council members he was close to and lingering close to home. He prefers solitude, the only company that of his raven familiar, Talia. He is often withdrawn from others, finding it difficult to speak to those he does not know, though his presence by the Bane rune is commanding in many ways. Loyalty runs deep within his veins, though he has few that it truly belongs to. Truthfully, Raven is quite shy, often too skittish to speak unless spoken too and terribly afraid of judgement. He also has an unsettling dangerous temper, though its incredibly hard to pull out of him. He has only truly lost it one time and the memory of the day haunts him for the actions committed within it.
history
Raven was born from the first generation, the first of powerful wolves that formed the council and oracles that walked so long ago, speaking directly with the gods and carrying out their will across the lands. Raven's own mother was a powerful Oracle called Esla. Her strange and exotic beauty was rumored and talked about over all of Adymeria, though few had ever seen her as she was locked safely away by the council and its guards so as not to lose her. Not all men are pure though, and a high ranking Priest soon fell from his path and tore his mother with him. He was able to escape, butt Elsa was not and she lay suffering with a difficult pregnancy and by the cruelty of those that were once her protectors.

On the night he was born, his mother labored for hours in anguish and panic lay within those that still cared for her, struggling to help her with the birth. Eventually, a guard cut open her heavy womb, and two small pups spilled from its contents, a whimper in their throats as his mother's faded. A young healer picked them up and began to clean them, but without their mother to tend to them the Council was uncertain of what to do about them. The young healer stepped before the council, the pups still cuddled close to her body, and begged for the life of the children and that she may be permitted to raise them herself. The Council reluctantly agreed to allow her to raise the young brother and sister.

The young healer, called Elingra, doted on the two endlessly as if they were her own children, but growing up Raven always longed for the mother he had never known. Raven's sister, Erinae, was much like him in appearance as a Halfling, both had taken on the sleek form of a bird, though her fur and feathers were a bright red in color, sleek and beautiful she was, with gleaming blue eyes that drew everyone closer to her. Everyone adored his sister and she became a gifted healer and Oracle within the council. Raven, on the other hand, was solid black with pale eyes, and those that came around him seemed to fear him for some reason. He'd heard no stories that related oddly to their looks nor did he bare any markings of legends that spoke of an omen or ill will. He had not much skill or wisdom to offer the council, but instead proved to be more nuisance and burden than anything else.

Growing up with nothing and no one, he was often reminded of this place of his and how he was dead weight. He served no purpose at his young age in the council, and he often wondered about simply flying away. Fear held him back though, and he clung to the council doing what little he could to provide and serve his purpose there. However, all of his hard work went mostly unnoticed by most, and instead the fear others had of him only seemed to grow into rumors and stories, told to children to make them listen and spread amongst adults to keep their fear and respect of the council intact.

Still young and barely participating in the council, a group of young warriors in training approached him one morning, spitting their usual slurs and his lack of use. One in particular though, spit vile things about his sister and dead mother, and no matter how Raven pleaded or ran, the brute followed him. Anger boiled within him, and for the first time something snapped within him. A darkness coming to surface. Raven remembers little of the events, but was told of the aftermath. He knows he murdered the warrior and many others that had no involvement in his pain, but he placed on them. Their cries and pleading for mercy still haunt him though.

He fled the council for the first time in his young life, laying out in the wilderness for days on his own. One of those days, the gods came to him. The great Luna stepped forward, her silver eyes glaring down into his own before she spoke. "Punisher." Fear instantly shivered down his spine but he held his ground. "You have been scorned Lucian, but you have reacted. You will now punish those around you, willing or unwilling your participation may be." And with that, the goddess and god were gone. Their words haunted him for days until he was found by some of the Council's scouts. Instantly their reactions began to change around him, and he witnessed the meaning of the Goddess' words. A lower member began to act out in rage over his new rank, an older more experienced guard became fevered with illness, another began to wither before their eyes and starve. He knew his place then.

Returning to the council, he was presented to the highest ranks and they realized he was a new rune, that of Bane the Punisher. Since that day he has lived in mostly painful silence and solitude, fulfilling the main duties of his rank and taking what little he can. Since that day, he has lived an empty and cold life, inflicting his own pain onto others.
